Microbira Expands into India with Strategic Partnerships

Microbira Partners with SCIINV Biosciences and Opens Office in India

Microbira his proud to announce a significant step in its global expansion in India. This new venture includes strategic partnerships with Indian healthcare leaders. Also, the establishment of a new office at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) in Bangalore. As well as, a collaboration agreement with Hyderabad-based SCIINV Biosciences Pvt Ltd. 

The announcement was marked by a visit to India by Microbira’s CEO, Marianne Ismail. She met with research and clinical stakeholders in Bangalore and Hyderabad. During her trip, she signed a formal strategic partnership agreement with SCIINV Biosciences. They are a biotech company incubated at the University of Hyderabad and will co-promote Microbira’s advanced microbial identification solution across India.

“I have just returned from Bangalore and Hyderabad. A very worthwhile informational trip with time spent in C-CAMP where Microbira India now has an office, and at the University of Hyderabad where our partner SCIINV Biosciences Pvt is incubated. While in Hyderabad we signed an agreement to work together to promote Microbira’s microbial identification technology. I also visited Apollo Hospitals, Rangadore Memorial Hospital (Cancyte), and Bangalore Baptist Hospital,”

Accelerating Microbial Identification in Indian Labs

At the heart of Microbira’s offering is MAAP-IR—a seamless AI-driven microorganism identification platform. It is designed to serve clinical microbiology laboratories of all sizes. MAAP-IR can rapidly and accurately identify more than 40 clinically significant pathogens, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida auris, and Shigella species, in under five minutes.

With its user-friendly interface and scalable architecture, MAAP-IR is ideally suited to meet the diagnostic demands. Especially, in India’s fast-growing healthcare sector.

Strategic Partnerships with Indian Innovators to Improve Patient Outcomes

The collaboration with SCIINV Biosciences and presence at C-CAMP positions Microbira at the heart of India’s biotech innovation ecosystem. These strategic partnerships will support joint research, technology adaptation, and the deployment of MAAP-IR in Indian clinical settings. Ultimately, aiming to improve diagnostic speed and accuracy in patient care.

Microbira also engaged with leading healthcare institutions. This includes, Apollo Hospitals and Bangalore Baptist Hospital, as part of its commitment to understanding the specific needs of the Indian healthcare system.
