Microbira Poster Presentation at ASM Microbe, Los Angeles 21st June 2025
Microbira was proud to participate in ASM Microbe 2025, the world’s largest gathering of microbiologists, held in Atlanta, USA. This prestigious conference brings together thousands of experts from academia, industry, and clinical practice to explore the latest innovations transforming microbial science and diagnostics.
At this year’s event, Lisa Lam, Microbira’s Director of Science and Technology, presented a poster titled:
“Blinded Prospective Clinical Validation of an ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy-Based Technique for Rapid Microorganism Identification.”
The poster showcased the clinical validation of MAAP-IR, Microbira’s innovative, reagent-free microbial identification platform. Powered by ATR-FTIR spectroscopy and artificial intelligence, MAAP-IR delivers rapid, accurate microorganism identification within minutes.
Engaging With the Global Microbiology Community
Throughout the event, attendees explored advances in microbial diagnostics, antimicrobial stewardship, and laboratory technology. There was a strong focus on faster identification of bacteria and yeasts, greater integration of artificial intelligence, and more cost-effective solutions for clinical laboratories worldwide.
Reflecting on the conference, Lisa Lam shared her excitement:
“At ASM Microbe, I had a great time engaging with professionals from across the field—industry leaders, researchers, and clinical practitioners. It was encouraging to see how diverse microbiology has become, and I leave the conference inspired by the new developments, discoveries, and collaborations ahead.”
Driving Innovation in Microbial Diagnostics
MAAP-IR reflects this progress by offering rapid, reagent-free microorganism identification. This technology supports clinicians in making timely, informed decisions that improve patient outcomes and optimise laboratory workflows.
“I’m excited to continue contributing to this evolving field with Microbira by developing practical, implementable solutions. I look forward to reconnecting at future ASM Microbe meetings,” Lisa added.
