Microbira Showcases Diagnostic Innovation at the Welsh Microbiology Association (WMA) Meeting 2025

Microbira exhibited at the Welsh Microbiology Association (WMA) 14th Tripartite Panceltic Meeting 2025. This marks our third exhibition stand this year. Following the success of the SMA Spring Meeting and the BSMT Microbiology Conference, this event reinforced our growing presence in the UK microbiology sector.

Held in Wales, this meeting brought together microbiologists, laboratory leaders, and healthcare professionals from across the UK. The focus of WMA 2025 was clear—advancing microbiology through innovation and improving patient outcomes.

Showcasing MAAP-IR

At the event, we proudly showcased the MAAP-IR platform, our rapid, reagent-free microbial identification system. Powered by FTIR spectroscopy and AI, MAAP-IR provides species-level results in under 5 minutes. Supporting faster clinical decisions and improved patient care.

Anushka Barthwal, Project Manager at Microbira,  shared her thoughts on the WMA 2025 event:
“There were delegates from hospitals and laboratories across Wales. Many delegates showed strong interest in our system, particularly appreciating its size and versatility. They expressed satisfaction that MAAP-IR fits easily in a fine hood when handling CL3 pathogens. Additionally, they were impressed that it accurately differentiates between Shigella and E. coli..”

These features make MAAP-IR ideal for all laboratories and support enhanced infection control practices.

Strong Engagement and Collaboration

Alongside Anuskha’s valuable conversations, Azeem Hanif (Business Development and Marketing Manager at Microbira) engaged in simultaneous discussions with other key attendees. Conversations focused on how MAAP-IR can support faster diagnosis, enabling timely and appropriate treatments.

Positive attitudes toward new technology and diagnostic innovation were clear throughout the event. Delegates showed a genuine willingness to explore and adopt advanced solutions like MAAP-IR.

Looking to the Future

With three successful exhibitions completed this year, Microbira is excited to continue driving diagnostic innovation. We remain dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes, particularly in critical areas.
